I believe in what I believe in. For everything that I believe in, there is a reason why I believe in it. I think that is what sets me apart from others. Too often, I find that people are fighting for or against something that they themselves do not truly believe in or they do not know why they are fighting for or against that something.
Did you know you can believe something without actually believing in it? You can also choose to believe anything that you want to, but do you know WHY you believe it? For example, I believe the statement that fast food restaurants care about their customers, but because of the ingredients that they choose to put in their food, I do not place my belief in them. Further more, the reason I believe this is b/c of the tremendous research documented in regards to the ingredients and how damaging they are to our bodies. Not to mention, knowing what it has done to my own body in the past!
There are some beliefs in which I am unwaivering. It is not out of stubbornness or being close minded, it is simply because I have put in the time and effort to find the reasoning behind it and believe it 10 times over. Also, most things that I feel that strongly about are things that have worked wonders in my own life and I believe 100% that they will work for everyone else as well no matter color, class, race, political views or else!
This blog is my hope of compiling these beliefs. I am at a point in my life where I am having to relearn a lot of things and believe this will not only be a great way to watch myself grow, but provide a place where I can lay my heart on the line and share why I believe what I believe on a weekly basis. I try everyday to be true to myself, no matter what others around me may think, however acknowledging that my beliefs may not be as precious to others as they are to me. I am VERY aware that forcing my opinion on others will do nothing less than push them further from the belief that I was trying to share with them. That is a lesson I learned the hard way! Nothing like a cold hard hangup to knock you down a peg or two.
So, for this week, let's take a moment each day to reflect on what we believe in and why. I will make the commitment to jot them down as they come to light and rethink each of them as an adult. The last thing that I need is to continue believing in something simply because I always have or to have only believed in it b/c I was told to. This should be fun.....and hard......but mostly fun. Dig deep and good luck! May God bless you and your journey!!
